Al's Story
Greetings all,
I hope the many years since high school have been as full of life and adventure as they have been for me. After graduating in '74 I stayed in Levittown and worked in a few of the local auto body shops, until I joined the Air Force in 1977. Like many of you, I married my high school sweetheart and we were stationed in North Carolina for a few years, then Las Vegas for a few more. As with most childhood romances, we eventually grew apart and I was transferred to Southern California in 1987. When I returned from Desert Storm in 1991, I married wife #2 and together we transferred to Okinawa, Japan where our son, Adam was born in 1994. Yes ¿ ¿Made In Japan¿, and as my dad made sure to note, ¿Assembled with American Parts¿. We returned to North Carolina in 1996 where we stayed until I retired in 2003. Although I only had a handful of permanent duty stations, I was fortunate enough to travel around the world on temporary assignments and I loved every bit of it. Along with my retirement in 2003 came divorce #2 and a job with CSX Railroad in Richmond, VA. Close enough that I can still see Adam on holidays and long weekends. In Richmond I also met my wife, Bonnie and ...Expand for more
we were married in November 2005. In June 2006 a dear friend of ours bought a boat dealership in Virginia Beach and hired me to run his parts and service department. We all know what happened to the economy shortly after that, and by mid 2008, the dealership needed to cut expenses, including me, in order to survive. I took the summer off with Adam, and then found a job as an engineering supervisor in a local children's hospital. It's a great job and I'm really hoping I can stick it out until my next retirement. In June '09 we purchased our dream house and we're enjoying hanging out at the pool or in the hot tub. In our spare time we enjoy spending time with family, entertaining, exploring the local wineries, scuba diving, and taking long motorcycle rides with friends. We still make it back to Levittown about twice a year to visit mom and try to hook up with old friends from the neighborhood, although they're getting harder to fine, or recognize. With that said, if you ever find yourself in Virginia Beach, look us up in the phone book. Maybe we can reintroduce ourselves and catch up on some old times. The bar is stocked, the beer is cold, and the invitation is sincere. Take Care!
