Leo's Story

Life: Hello everyone! I have no pets, well I have some fish, but they are not really "pets". My oldest wants' a lizard... Maybe I get him a Bearded Dragon! I also found out I am allergic to cats... Guess that makes me a dog man... Life is good; I have TWO energetic boys and ONE demanding spoiled girl... The boys are LOGAN, who is about to turn 17, and Jonathan, who is 14. The girl is my beautiful wife SARA (Nogales, Class of 1999! YAH, BABY, you read right)! Ten years ago i retired from the USMC after 21 years of honorable and faithful service to my country. I started out in the reserves 1988 right out of N.H.S.! Mobilized for Desert Storm in 1990-91. Went back to work at Jax Market where I had been working since I was 16 years old... I clawed my way up to management and worked for them as a slave/dog for almost 12 years at that shat hole! The only GOOD THING about that place was that's were I met Sara. I joined active duty USMC in early 2000 and retired in mid 2009. GOD BLESS THE MARINES! I'm a stay at home dad now... AND THAT IS TOUGHER THAN THE MARINES! God bless all you mothers out there that do this everyday! Sara followed me into the USMC and was in Boot Camp when 9/11 happened... That is right; my little 5'2" 110 Lbs wife is a BAD ASS Marine too! (Oops, sorry Babe, I know you don't like me to use the A** word). She is a First Sargent now but soon SgtMaj! We have been married almost 18 years now and been together 20 years this September. WOW time has flown by so fast. It hasn't been easy; but with God's help we are going strong!!! Luckily for us, mostly her, I have a terrible memory! The Lord is very good to me. We have an Awesome GOD! I would love to hear from anyone out there that remembers me! Except for John Dydel, I talk to him almost everyday and I'm tired of his complaining! Just kidding JD, you know I love you man! I give JD credit for pointing me in the right direction and introducing me to our Lord and Savior, John planted the seed and Sara help with a little water, well more like a title tsunami! LOL Love to here from anyone, God bless America and all who defend Her! Leo Lopez Gunnery Sergeant, USMC Retired College Back in 1989-1991 I attended Mt SAC. I was studd...Expand for more
ing to be in Law Enforcement. Desert Storm put an end to my College career, when I got back from that... My "job" as a manager at Jax picked up and I could no longer find time to continue my studies. Too bad, cause I would have been a good cop, BUT then I wouldn’t of met my beautiful wife too... Everything happens for a reason. Workplace: I AM A retired MARINE GUNNERY SERGEANT and a stay at home DAD! Enough said about that... 1986-2000 I worked at JAX MARKET in La Puente, Ontario, Santa Fe Springs, and Anaheim. 1988-2009 Did USMC out of high school and I active duty through the reserves in 2000. The years in between I was in the reserve USMC but I did more Active duty work than normal reservist, I guess in retrospect, I should of joined full time since the beginning. I love the Marine Corps! Semper Fi! Retired in 2009 out of CampPend. Military Been to a few places but not many... MSCR San Diego October 1988, so I spent my 18th BD in boot camp, Thanksgiving, Christmas, AND New Year 1989 all in boot camp! Spent most of the time at 29 Palms CA for desert artillery training. I was COMM, talk about us, but can’t talk WITHOUT us!!! RADIO!!!! Lost my chain of thought... Oh yah, Camp Lejurne NC, mobilized for Desert Storm with my ARTILLERY unit. Norway for Battle Griffith, which was fun cold weather training too... Greenland & Iceland for pit stops during Desert Storm; the funny thing is Greenland is covered in ice and Iceland was very green, go figure! They are backwards! I visited Parris Island, SC for Sara's graduation from fem Marine Boot camp... Did I mention Sara is a Marine too? We drove to Quantico cross country SIX times. That was fun too... We also proudly serving our beloved country in Nassau, Bahamas and Tel Aviv ISRAEL on MSG (embassy duty). I love the Corps!!! We lived on Okinawa, Japan for three years too. Life is good. While in Oki i stated going back to school at UMUC. We are now back in CA after 10 years of being away. Bought a house too! I thank the Lord that I was not in harms way during my 21 years in this glorious Marine Corps career. THAT'S IT, THE STORY OF MY LIFE. Thanks for reading... Send me a message, I would love to hear from you. God bless you and God bless America! Leo
