Leon's Story

Life After h.school, I moved to Austin to work at the Armadillo World HQ & to be near the music and better players.(I play guitar) I learned live sound and began a lifelong love of electronics and acoustics. I got drafted during Vietnam war because I wasn't settled on course of formal study. I didn't end up going to 'Nam because I auditioned & placed for the guitar chair in the Army Jazz Ensemble. After the Army I stayed in Europe to play jazz for the next few years, picked up language skills. I had a nice house on the Necar River in Heidelberg, Germany. When Frank Zappa (an Armadillo Wld HQ regular), was through there on a tour & needed a sound engineer he called & offered me a job with the Mothers of...Expand for more
Invention as a soundman. I was with Frank for the next five years. Sound Engineering took hold. I worked in that trade for the next twenty years or so give/take. I got to work with my favorite players and knocked out the more interesting parts of Literature and Music Composition degrees alternately. I blew out my thyroid gland on some bad fish in Tokyo mixing for New Age synthesist, Kitaro. Had to quit touring. Went to SWT and knocked out a physics based technical degree and was a device engineer for Motorola for about 10 years. Bought Cinematography equipment. I'm now an independant filmaker. I married a girl from El Paso, Susanne Uhler. We have 3 kids Ryan, Brandon, and Lauren. Still play guitar.
