Leonard's Story
After high school I got married and worked at different jobs in the oil patch. I didn't like being laid off all the time, so in 1982 I joined the Houston Police Department.
I was divorced in 1985, (I'll leave it at that). In the fall of 1986 I met Debbie and we were married Feb. 1987. In 1988 we were blessed with a daughter, Heather Ann, who is one of the best things in my life. I retired from HPD in June 2004 and stared a business making holsters and repairing saddles. like to work as full time Deputy. I am now a Deputy working at Bear Branch Junior High. In the 25 odd years I have been working in the police community THIS is the most rewarding thing I have done.
When you see a child that is becoming involved with gangs, (and yes we are getting gangs in Magnolia) and you can make that child see where it will lead, and then see them change, now that is rewarding. Or if you can get them away from the drugs, alcohol, whatever and become something, that is amazing. My only complaint is it took me this long to find what I wanted to do while policing.
