Leonard's Story
Life
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I am back in Cali, and trying to pick up the pieces of my life that I left behind 3 years ago.
When you get lemons, you make lemonade. I received my BS degree at the as time I graduated the academy. But, most of you thought that I already had a degree in BS!
I spent 10 months in El Paso, Texas, attending the Sergeants Major Academy. Not quite the garden spot on the plant, but, I maked the best of it.
I was deployed October 2004 and IÂve only been home for about 4 months since that time. I thought that I was headed for the last round-up, finish my deployment and ride off into the sunset. But, the military had other plans for me. So, after 39 years I thought they'd be happy to see me go and I figured that they probably wouldn't trust me with the TV remote control. After I was promoted to Sergeant Major the military came up with a new policy that requires a 2 year extension upon graduation from the US Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA). In order to retire at the highest enlisted rank in the military, I have to complete USASMA. So now, they're going to keep me for another 3 years.

e past 14 years I've own a ranch near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, I've gone from City Slicker to Hillbilly, and I've raised Country boys & chickens. As well as raising goats, sheep and llamas.
I've been back on active duty for the past 7 years. Prior to that, I was working for El Dorado County SheriffÂs Dept at the S. Lake Tahoe & the Placerville jail for 5 yrs. I was offered the opportunity of working with a Counterdrug Task Force. I never did like going to jail every night anyway!
I really enjoyed the Reunion Picnic in Long Beach for the past years, because it gave every class member an opportunity to attend at no cost. Classmates that had never attended any functions before came to the picnic, so I got to see friends that I hadn't seen since graduation 40 years ago. I look forward to seeing you at the next class get together in 2007.
I apologize for not being able to attend the 40 year Class 66 Reunite cruise, but IÂve otherwise engaged. However, IÂve seen the pictures on the way to CA for Christmas I stopped at Tony Hollis house in Prescott, AZ; it looks like a good time was had by all. Blessing to you & your family. Peace!
