lj's Story
Married Joan (Jo) Marsh Jan. 26, 1958. She graduated from North 1955.. I was in the Navy. We lived in Makaha, Hawaii in 1959 when HI became a state. Back to Des Moines and I then joined the Air Nat'l Guard as an aircraft mechanic. I also became a parachute rigger while there. In 1970 the Army Nat'l Guard was needing helicopter pilots, so I switched over to the Army and the family left with me for 9 months while I attended Helicopter Pilot and Officer Candidate School in Texas and Alabama. At 33 yrs. old, I was the "old man"! Back to DSM. I flew Allied Ins. private helicopter and then flew Life Flight at St. Joseph Hosp. in ...Expand for more
Omaha. Finally got hired for Life Flight at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Left there in 1994 and retired a few years later. Jo retired from IA Meth. Hospital as well.
Nov. 2010. Now have one surviving child - our daughter who lives in Des Moines, Our son took his own life in 2006 after suffering from PTSD for 20+ yrs. We still have 4 grandkids, but now have 5 great grandkids. We are both retired now and travel around the US for vacations. Stay in Iowa for the winter...don't know why!
2012 Rescued a black and tan mini dachshund, 4 yrs old. Heidi Lee latched onto Lee immediately! Love her a lot. Makes us laugh and loves us!
