Les's Story
I left school in Dec. 1983 and left Carlsbad as well. I moved to Lubbock, TX, finished High School by taking my GED. I married Christy Melton, my wife of now 24 years.I joined the US Navy where I was a SeAL on team #1. While in the Navy we had our first daughter. I discharged out and returned back to Lubbock. I then moved back to Carlsbad and opened a business, had one more daughter and a son, I then moved to Post TX where I pastored, The Bread of Life Church of God and The Lighthouse Christian Center Church of God, I had two more daughters. I purchased a ranch and an automotive business in Post. I then, in 2005 took the position of senior pastor of the Maranatha Church of God in Lubbock. I still reside at my ranch in Garza COunty where I can remain doing both of the things that I love and enjoy.

al facts will be a real surprise. I was known as trouble, fighting, racing and simply raising cane, many thought that I would never make it to my 20th birthday and many more assumed that I would end up in prison somewhere by the time I was 19 but praise God I'm not and now instead of being trouble I am Ordained Bishop Les Rutherford MDiv.
I still love to race I just keep it on the race track now. I'm to old and tired to fight and the USN took the most of that out of me. I still enjoy my hunting, fishing, hiking, and being in nature but I do this a little slower now.
At the time of writing this fact sheet I'm about 4 months away from being a grandfather and this is an exciting time in my life.
Someone asked for me to post this so now I have and I hope it brings a smile to everyone's face. To those who knew me, to those who know me and to those who wish they had! HAHA
