Lesley's Story

Life I have moved to Gloucester Point VA, escaping the ice and snow here. I moved 5/13/08. My email is the same so keep in touch. I'm right by the water so if you want to swim at a beach or fish off a pier, come on down. I was living and working in Shamokin, PA. I was the Director of the United Way there and really enjoyed my job. I'm widowed now, since 11/2000. So I'm living alone and loving every second of it. I'm very active in church. The church I attended was the reason I moved to Shamokin. I was the Choir Director, taught the ladies Sunday School. taughth bible studies and was class leader one Sunday evening each month. That means I had the whole service, music, preaching/teaching, etc. I've found a new church in VA. I hope I can be just as active there too. My 3 children are nearby but not too close. I have a son/family, Todd, in Bloomsburg. He just returned last July from serving in Iraq. He has now left the NG as he had 14 years in and said that was plenty. My other son, Bill, and his wife just moved to Va. Beach area in April. That's too far as far as I'm concerned but we still keep in touch by computer and cell phones. My daughter/family are in Camp Hill PA. We keep in touch daily, by email, and our cell phones, at work and at home. Also, I have 3 grandchildren, 3 step daughters, 12 step grandchildren and 5 greats, yikes. But I love them all. I love my life so much now and am keeping busy. I love scrapbooking and doing other creative projects like card making, no pets because I like to go away for days at a time, and keeping in touch with my brother, Tom, who is living in the Philippines with his wife. We IM just about every week and have a lot of fun trying to figure out what his wife is saying. She's so sweet but her accent is pretty rough. But he's working on her and she's improving. I'm a very happy camper and have accomplished a lot in my life. I do love the Lord and He has helped me get as far as I am today. rom '84 until he graduated in '87. While there I worked for the school in the office, I directed the school choir and a choir for the men's home. That was a place where we took in drug addicts, alcoholics, etc. and helped them with their life-controlling problem. Well each weekend I traveled with that group of men, teaching them gospel music and singing in churches, tv, radio, other ministries. I did that for 3 years. I also took classes when they offered evening classes. My daughter was married and living away at the time but we had my 2 teenage sons with us. It was a hard time because we had $100 a month to live on. Our housing and food were included in his tuition which was taken out of my pay. But we managed (you can if you really want to) to get through and saw God's blessings in our lives every day. I was offered the position of Development Secretary after my husband passed away. I sold my home and moved back to the school, which is located in Sunbury, and worked there for two and a half years. I took more classes and ministered in Muncy prison for women. It was a wonderful period in my life. Now the school has closed down and I have been placed in Shamokin to minister in a church there. I'm very busy with the church as choir director, Sunday School teacher, I help in the Kid's Club and am on the board of directors. I love studying and teaching God's word. It is His word that get's me through each day knowing what He expects of me and believing His promises to keep me and guide me. He has been faithful to me now for 28 years. Do you know Him? If not, email me and we'll talk. My most fav way to relax is to read the bible and listen to contemporary worship music. If I won $100 million, I'd give 50 % of it to God, then spend the rest on a home on the river, pontoon boat and my children. My first job was at Carvel, where I got paid less than $1 to dish ice cream. What I remember most about it is I worked with Jane Rooney, my dear friend.. we still keep in touch. The song, "Runaway" was very popular then.
