Leslie's Story

I don't know if any of you will remember me since I didn't graduate with you,(I moved to take care of my grandmother mid senior year. I got married that year too. I had a son Curtis then daughter Heidi, I graduated from Merritt College of nursing in'1976. I worked in hospitals around the Bay area for about 10 years then moved to Reno and worked for Care Flight for about three years while I worked on my masters thru Stanford. I'm not sure why I waited until I moved that far from my school choice because it was a real trek. When I completed my M.S. I was recruited to work in Saudi Arabia at King Fisal Hospital and Research Center to teach in the neonatal unit for 2 years then transferred to the Trauma unit. One night the king came in while I was assigned to the cardiac room so I took care of him. A few weeks later I was asked to join the trauma team that traveled with the crown prince. I went every place he did so saw lots of the middle east. I got lots of vacation time and travel from there was pretty cheap so I saw lots of Europe and some of...Expand for more
the African countries. My son died unexpectedly while I was there. When I came home to bury him it seemed like it was a good time to move back to the States. I bought a sweet little house on the Kennebeck river in Bath Maine. I still had the travel bug so got a nursing position with Holland America and rented out the house. This time travel was to China, Viet Nam, Singapor, and Hawaii. When I had seen enough of the East, I came home to Maine , met a nice guy ,got married again and adopted a beautiful baby girl who is the light of my life. In 2008 my husband was offered a job in Houston Tx. By that time I was really tired of shoveling snow until April, so convinced him we should go there. Here it is 2015, I'm retired, separated from my husband, driving my daughter to violin and voice lessons. and volunteering in a clinic for those without insurance. (health care for low income families sucks in Tx.). So that's my story. As I look through the names there are so many (almost all) that I remember and wonder how you are and what you are doing.
