Leslie's Story
I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. Out of high school I went to Louisburg Jr. College and then on to NC State where I earned my Bachelor's of Social Work. After almost three years of looking for a social work position and working mainly short term temp positions I started working as a temp at a mortgage company in Raleigh and I am fairly happy to say through two mergers/name changes I am still employed full time with them. I spent eight years working part time at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, later known as the RBC Center, as an usher for NC State basketball game and Carolina Hurricanes hockey games. That was the best part time job any one could ever ask for. Besides watching my Pack play basketball I worked during the 2002 and 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs and was priveledged to be working the night the Canes became Stanley Cup champs in 2006. and during the next nine years he became my best friend. I had hoped we would become more but we never did. On the night of Oct 21, 2009 he was fatally injured in an automobile accident while on call for Ft. Bragg Womack Army hospital where he worked as a paramedic. He died the morning of Oct. 22, 2009. I loved him very much and always will. The second two are my feline "sons". Sable Christian Mayton came into my life in March 2004 and Magni Malone Mayton came in August 2006. I love them both very much and I love being their "mom". Recently another man has come into my life, at the time it was absolutely the darkest period I have ever experienced. After Paul died I never thought I would see hope or laughter again and my new boyfriend Bill has brought me both. I was in a hole going six ft under and he had a ladder. So that pretty much brings my life up to now...Cliff notes version.
Update 12/28/11 Bill and I got married 11/13/11. Very blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life.
