Leslie's Story
Life
Hi! Not too long out of HHS I married a '72 HHS grad, Verle McClellan (we '75ers graduated with his sister Patricia). Together almost 40 years now! We lived for a short time in Fremont, were back in Hayward for 24 years and now live in San Leandro. We have 2 wonderful daughters who both also graduated from HHS! Aubrey, our oldest, lives in San Ramon & Rachel, our youngest, also lives in San Leandro. Both girls are married and Rachel is the mother of my first and only grand daughter Tanner. I still sing whenever I can, do stained glass work, read all the Stephen King books and Harry Potter, of course, and love the SF Giants (only because my brother broadcasts for them) and have enjoyed running my own business.
School
Oh! What can I say? High school was a bit of a roller coaster ride. I truly enjoyed most of the social activity, mainly outside of school, but as for the actual education...well...I loved music and drama class...Expand for more
es! My favorite teachers were Guy Sandoval (Drama) and Jackie Blake (Choir Director). Then there was also Larry Ratto, the VP - he was the Principal when my daughters were students there.
College
I did the Heald Business College thing and got an AAS in Accounting (straight A student!) but not until I was about 40! Oddly enough, it was so much fun that I wanted to keep going. I wish I had become a professional student. I had a really tight group of pals and we did everything together, even studied! It was a blast!
Workplace
I've held quite a variety of jobs since high school - from working at a butcher shop to assisting severely handicapped students in public school. I now own and work my own business, Homework Cleaning Services. It's good work and I love the flexibility of it plus seeing the results of my work before going home for the day is kind of nice. I also spend a lot of time watching my grand daughter...not really a job!
