Leslie's Story

Life Well after I graduated from Grove I went to Pittsburgh State University. I majored in Graphic Design and Print Management. I lived it Trout Hall for two years. I had two roommates, but Cecily Tubbs was the one I lived with the majority of those two years. I love her to death besides the fact that she is the one that started calling me Medusa, ( After my hair style when I woke in the morning.) College was great and I met my husband there. I spent the first few months avoiding him because he had a mean looking red tattoo and looked somewhat like a skin head. But after Stewart Perez explained to me that a) Heath was in ROTC, b) his tattoo is of a Boy Scout symbol and, c) he kinda liked me, I gave the boy a shot and we are happily married to this day. The last two years of college where spent living in sin together and basically helping the other get through the life of completing a degree. We had a Dog, Violet an Akita/Chow mix that adopted us after I got of work one night, that died of hart-worm. She was great and is greatly missed. I graduated on schedule May of 1999 and Went to work for Sprint PCS. I moved to KC and got the greatest loft known to man. ( Granted I had no furniture but I had three big windows, a great view of the river, walking distance to the river-market and some great blues bars.) Heath had an extra semester to go do to the dreaded changing-of-the-major. So I was a wild women in the big city. Heath and I got married in Jan of 2000. Where we started the "Great Separation"....Expand for more
Heath went to OBC and then to Korea and I stayed in Kansas City. So we spent the first two years of our marriage in completely different time-zones and hemispheres. I got to visit him though and we took two weeks to travel around Korea. The ultimate shopping experience. I spent most of my vacation time flying to where ever he was or creating a high phone bill. (Luckily the work discount was good) As luck would have it Heath got stationed in Kansas when his tour was over and we now live in Ft. Riley. Heath is going to finish his Military commitment here and then he will be a plain old civilian. As for my career, I spent a year and a half at Sprint PCS in it's internal training dept. Developing graphic and book covers for it's training manuals and training aids. I then moved into developing eBooks then Web sites. I then got promoted to work in the .com division. I was a web designer for two years. I worked in usability in the user experience group. I learned so much and regard many of my former colleges in high regard...others I don't regard at all. I was laid off during the fall of the market. But soon came to work for accessKansas. It is a contractor to the state of Kansas and we develop web sites and online applications so that you a citizen can do many task on the web. If you want to see some of my work visit Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius's Web site, I designed that. I have other sites but I wont list them. No kids just like being able to share a time zone with Capt. Bushell... for now...
