Leslie's Story
Life
After Normandy: Went to UMSL, worked fulltime job, played on tennis team, carried 0.5 GPA. After three years entered professional business career in barge industry, quit school (big mistake!). Married Cindy 3/25/77, Ritenour girl, class '72. Eventually took better job in Boston, but returned STL when boss got fired. David born 12/18/81. Took another job and moved to Minneapolis in '82 but quit and returned STL in late '83. Scott born 1/16/85. Finally graduated UMSL 1986. Took new job in Niagara Falls, moved there in early '89. Division transfered to Dallas, moved there in '90. Quit job and moved home to STL in '93, our last move until the boys are out of school. Have had four more jobs since then. Still hang out with numerous '69 friends (Scott Neiman, Tom Niehoff, Dennis Doyle, Gary Martin, Ray Wandling and others) and stay in contact with others (Kathy Knickmeyer, Dot Anderson, Don Bliss, Don Stock, Rick Kinealy and more). Still married, too, for as long as she will continue to put up with me. ...Expand for more
Living in Ballwin, play some golf, tennis, baseball (yes, baseball, not softball), go skiing, and stay active. Have hosted foreign exchange students numerous times, which is fun, and I recommend it. Would like to hear from anyone who cares to send an e-mail, promise I will respond unless your are selling life insurance or financial planning, and we already own timeshares too. Update April 2005: survived colon cancer that appeared in fall 2002 thanks to great surgeon and chemotherapy. Sent older boy to be a Jayhawk at KU, younger boy to Central Missouri. BOTH are going to spend next year in Japan as exchange students, one near Tokyo, other near Osaka. Celebrated 28th anniversary last week. Life is good, we should savor and enjoy every minute of it. Don't forget how important that thought is.
Update 2010
Colon cancer returned in 2008, had eight months chemotherapy and will be on oral chemo regimen for the rest of my life. Had to give up baseball.
Life is still great, with great family and wonderful friends.
