Leticia's Story
The future dreams and expectations I held while studying and working at San Gabriel Mission High School 1970-1974 though different from now, are still relevant.
One of the thoughts that registered and stayed in my mind that one particular instructor once uttered in class while teaching was: "Happiness is like a bubble, if you grasp at it fiercely it will burst, if you view it simply for everything that it is, it is then there for you to enjoy"
Sister Mary Patrick 1973
I followed up San Gabriel Mission High with:
Rio Hondo Junior College, Whittier, CA
Cal State L.A.
Georgia Tech, Altlanta
Graduated with BS in Industrial Design/Specialization Product Design
That's the ed side.
The "really matters" part is my Family
My husband, Joel and I have 3 sons, Sam, Sergio and David.
Presently, I'm in my 3rd year of a 1-year leave of absence from my job to be home caregiving for my mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Is it difficult..yes
Is it fruit full...yes
A young woman who is RESPECTFUL (i.e. love and care of all parents)
A MOTIVATED young woman (i.e. right now I am assisting my father to get an exhibit of his paintings ready.)
A young woman of DEPTH (My husband is the first to say that as complicated as I am, there is reason for what I do)
A young woman of INTEGRITY... who do we think we're kidding... God sure does let us know when we ask him. sometime we wish He would ...Expand for more
tell us to do something different (Jonah) but sincerely ... why ask unless you yearn to please Him?
A young woman of CHARACTER There are times we all would rather walk in someone else's shoes because they appear to have a much easier life, yet as often as I have asked myself if I would trade my past with it's successes and mistakes.. I always end up choosing to be me as I am.
All of these characteristic traits have been fulfilled. Life has take care of it.
Let's see now, at age 54, do I go for trend my younger sons and friends do, like facebook?:
I once wrote this on my facebook wall and shared it..
I only facebook in passing by, although some of my days are more like flying by with a missing wing and God as my only sole propeller. That's O.K. with me. Hmmm, I think I like that "God as my only sole propeller" Pretty darn good! I think I'll use it more.
yesterday, on facebook, one of my son's wrote...
"Sam Muñoz has to draw the line between having faith & being blind. God will save him like God said, but he still has to use his head. If he's got time, don't drop the ores then pray to blow to shore."
i liked that
About 2 months ago, I looked for fellow San Gabriel Mission High. It was late at night after a very long day,and after finding profiles of 5 SGMH women, I hummed the ol' alma mater..."fling out that vibrant spirit of Mission High, Our loyalty to..... and so on...and then went to bed.
