Lera's Story

Today, I substitute teach at a high school in the city I live in. I worked hard for 15 years for the Federal Government. A divorcee, and mother of four children. I raised a total of seven children, three young men today, that mother needed help at the time. I loved the work she did and had made a good name for herself. I was motivated and loved working for Lawyers. My supervisors always praised my work and Iwas given many incentives for employees that are hard workers. I was known all over the building, got raises and was content with my lifestyle. In 2003, I was commuting back and forth from South Jersey to Washington. D.C. I was renting an apartment in Maryland and handling and managing a home in New Jersey. My parents lived in New Jersey in the home she had along with I's children. I worked hard to maintain my way of life, then things began to get hectic, the children had become grown and my parents had became ill. My younger sister became ill at the same time my parents became ill. I worried for about six months on what to do in this situation. I became frustrated after awhile, my mother underwent a triple bypass, my sister's brain tumor had gotten worst with the epilepsy triggering constantly. My father Alzheimer was diagnosed about the same time. My director at work, wanted me to go a few months to take care of her parents then come back. I decided not to go back, I didn't want to change the surroundings for my father, mother nor sister. I asked for a compassionate dismissal and was given it. I decided to full time take care of my parents and sister. I have one brother and had one sister. I took care of my ...Expand for more
parents and sister and was happy to be close to my family. My sister passed away in 2005 and I had no regrets, I was there for her My family is close, being the middle child made a great difference on how I handled things. The week after my sister passed away. My brother and me was traveling to our sister's home to clean out her home. We had a head on collision with a truck. Our parents was devastated not knowing what to expect. My brother grabbed me although the seatbelts were intact and saved me from further injury. My brother got a concussion, while I had three fractured ribs under the breastbone. At that instant of collision, my brother asked, "Are We In Heaven.", I knew then I had work to finish. I decided that I wanted to help people and did not know how I was going to do it. I received an email from the University of Phoenix and emailed them back. I received a call from a school representative and was on the way to change the world around me. I am engaged in classes toward my masters degree and wants to gain insight on dealing with other people in business and personal I¿m looking forward to educating young children on how to achieve their goals in the world. I want children to realize and comprehend that knowledge is a learning process that never ceases to end. By given back to the world knowledge I will be learning in the process of this. The bare essentials to life is thinking, listening and pursuing endeavors that will further your knowledge to achieve your highest goal.. I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
