Peter J.'s Story
I am still living in Brooklyn; Boerum Hill (7 blocks from the Brooklyn Bridge). My wife, Sandy, and I bought and renovated a loft in the downtown section of Brooklyn 26 years ago. We did most of the design and construction ourselves. We were pioneers in the area. Now the Boerum Hill area is gentrified and filled with up and coming young people.
After Lincoln High, I worked at various jobs while attending classes at night. I joined the NY Army National Guard to fullfill my military obligation, but since my Basic Training was delayed for two years, I couldn't get a decent job (an employer would have to hold my job while I was away for six months).
I met Sandy, while attending Brooklyn College. We married right after she graduated in 1967. By then I was working in the automotive industry, and I was a part-time student, so I didn't receive my B.A. in Economics until 1971. When the company I worked for was bought out in 1972, we took my severance pay and no-longer "company" car and spent the summer camping across the U.S. When we returned, I began the two year Masters intern program in the TV Center at B.C. I received my M.S. in 1974.

nd producing award shows almost exclusively. And so it has been for 27 years. I even managed to earn a New York Emmy Award along the way. I am semi-retired now; I do about 6 or 7 shows a year.
Sandy and I opted not to have children. Our life style would not have room for them.
We've been married for 42 years which has gone by very quickly.
She became a Special Education teacher in NYC , and after 25 years went on to do administration and supervision on the district level, as well as mentoring new teachers at LIU Graduate School. Later she developed a new early intervention program for pre-k children with disabilities. She retired as soon as she reached 55 and became a consultant and director of edu. in a private school. She is now busier than ever, attending classes, lectures, exhibitions at museums, theater, ballet, concerts, etc.
We are into gourmet food and fine wine. I'm a pretty good cook who enjoys entertaining our friends with meals from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. We love taking advantage of the many fantastic restaurants in NY.
Over the years we've done an extensive amount of traveling. I now work on some awards shows which are out of the country. So we get some free trips. We are planning a trip to Europe for this May.
That's the short version.
