Lewis's Story
Had too much fun at Earlham Quaker College after high school, got a job, joined the AF and spent next 14 years getting my BA.
Volunteered for the USAF, was trained as a Jet, Over 2 Eng, Mechanic at Lackland...put in for overseas to see the world & got Flatland, US&A, in the middle of Kansas: McConnell Air Force Base. Anyway, it wasn't that bad, cuz I've stuck around for over 40 years and met some really nice people...no, not my Chief Master Sgt, but almost everyone else. Been re-acquiring friendships with the guys I served with for last couple years. Nice bunch who turned out well.
Have been acquiring email addresses of high school mates and have a reunion set for 2010...mo...Expand for more
stly, cuz our 50th was spur-of-th'-moment. Can't wait!!
Also get perched over the sound & fury of driving the convertible full tilt through first snow with th' top down! Nothing quite like that, except maybe hot air ballooning when the breeze is 2 knots and th' bottom of the wicker basket is skimming across the tops of the field grain making that swishing sound of water. Flying high's ok, but Weed-Walking is best of all.
That sound compares to the sound of 100 voices of our symphony chorus in a soto voce passage of a Faure requium. ..and when we sing it well, it's hard to keep from choking up. My daughter and granddaughter already know what this can feel like.
Life is good.
