I always wanted to be a nurse/social worker when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. My inspiration comes from my grandson whom I'm been raising, since he was released from the hospital at 3 months. He was born at 28 weeks and wasn't suppose to live. I gave him a kidney when he was 18 months old, he's now 16 years old. He has alot of medical problems, but he's like the energizer bunny, keeps on going. Everyone says he'll keep me young. This shows us life doesn't always turn out the way you expect !!!!!! By the way it was a miracles I was a donor for David as I adopted his father when he was 5 years old and took him out of a very bad foster care home, unfortunately he grew up thinking the world owed him, even was a perfect match for David and disappeared and his birth mother, she refused to be even tested.......... It is now 2014, I wrote the above in 2010. David is now 16 yrs. old and is on hemodialysis as of Aug, 2013. It's been 3 years. We go every other day. We drive one hour to Livingston, NJ Ambulatory Center part of St. Barnabas Hospital. It's such a shame that David has been sick all his life, right after I gave him the kidney when he was 18mos. old he came down with pneumonia and stopped breathing and went on a vent for 2 and 1/2 mos. and the kidney I gave him went right into rejection, so he was on antirejection medication up until he went on hemodialysis, before that he was very sick as his immune system was so low he had many infections pneumonia's and he has pulmonary disease too.
