James's Story

1973 to 1996; Married 3 times divorced 3 times, played blues in the blues clubs and honky tonks for 10 years. My life was a mess through alcohol and selfishness, I did not know where I came from, where I was or where I was going----I was lost. Some of the words of my favorite song: "Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see". In mid 1996 I had an encounter with Jesus, the One Who conquered death and rose from the grave and met me were I was, in my sin. The bible says "that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us". It also says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"---and that "the wages of sin is death"-----but "the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus or Lord". The day I handed my life over to Jesus (life under His control and authority to guide and teach me) my life has been full of joy unspeakable. I would not change back to my old life for anything. Jesus is the God of second chances, a way to start over and do life the right way, to be "reborn". The bible say's that when you accept Jesus, "old things pass away and all things become new"----"you become a new creation in Christ Jesus". What a wonderful gift, to start over, forgiven, gilt free in the light of the t...Expand for more
ruth of His word that sets us free from sin and death and eternal damnation. God loves us and has a plan for our lives, and it is the best plan. There is only one way to God; Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through Me". Because of sin we have been cut off from God eternally and Jesus is the only bridge, the only mediator between man and God. Our sin requires a penalty be payed, and that penalty is to be eternally cut off from God, (spiritual and physical death) but "God so loved the world that he gave His only unique Son(or begotten Son) that whoever would believe in Him would have everlasting life". God requires the debt of death be paid for sin and Jesus paid our penalty for us by His death on the cross. Jesus through His love for us took our place, the just for the unjust. I will take that trade any day. Get a bible, read the book of Romans and all the new testament. As you read it, it reads you, it can transform you into a new creation that will bring glory to God. The one thing I want to be remembered for is that I pointed you in the direction of Jesus Christ, the lover of our soul, the only Way, the only Truth , and the only Life. Consider "Jesus" the author and perfecter of our faith. With the love of God James and Margaret Lewis
