Tim's Story
College
I attended 3 years (1966 to 1969) at Florida College in Temple Terrace, FL, a suburb of Tampa. It was and still is today a small, private, religious based school. I worked a year or so following school, went to California (Los Angeles area) with with a friend for 6 mo.s (my big adventure).
Returned to Tampa to live and work, where I shared an apartment with my brother Joel (DHS '67) until '72, while drafting for a civil engineering firm. I met Regina Beck of Birmingham, AL while she was attending Forida College ('71-'72). We married in summer 1972. With her support and encouragement I attended Georgia Tech from '73 to '76 and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree.
LIFE
My first job as an engineer after graduating from Georgia Tech was in Nashville, TN. I chose to go there so I could be near the country music industry. With a friend, I wrote a number of songs that were recorded by various artists. The first ("Picking Up The Pieces") was recorded by Kenny Price and sung on the TV show Hee-Haw in '76 or '77. "My Thoughts Go Back To You" was recorded by Tommy Overstreet in 1977. Then, Mylon Lefevere recorded "Rowena" in '79. Mickey Gilley recorded "Keep On Telling Me Lies" on his last album before he was in Urban Cowboy. The greatest success has been a civil war era love song called "Burn, Georgia, Burn" recorded by the group ALABAMA on their "Feels So Right" album, which sold over 4 million copies. I had opportunity to meet the group and record in Jeff Cook's studio in Fort Payne, AL.
We moved to Huntsville, AL, in 1982 where we raised our sons David (a fireman/paramedic) and Daniel (a systems engineer/math major). They are 25 & 28 yrs old, respectively (as of March '08). They are also musicians in a band together (Grand Prize Game) which can be seen on MySpace. Daniel writes songs, sings and plays guitar and David is the drummer.

6 following her affair. It was totally out of character for the woman I thought I had married and lived with for almost 34 years. But she obviously decided that she did not want to be that same person anymore. Most sadly, it violated her professed Christian faith by which we both tried to live and raise our sons.
I am remarried (January '08) to a lovely, Christian lady named Paula, who is from the north Alabama area. We now live in a new home in Madison, AL, near Huntsville. I work at NASA (Marshall Space Flight Center) for a contractor doing facilities design. Paula is a program/financial analyst for a defense/aerospace contractor.
Please feel free to email me or call me - anyone, anytime. I would be glad to catch up on past times. I would enjoy reading the stories of others I went to school with in Cordele or Albany. So, if you haven't written anything about your life on Classmates, do it! Or, got to Facebook and communicate there.
As difficult as growing up could be when we were young, I guess I do like the Marvin Hamlish song "Memories" sung by Brbara Striesand says. I tend to forget the painful memories and recall the good times. I realize that back then even at our worst we were still just kids doing and saying things like kids, not understanding how our actions or words may have affected others - positively or negatively. We were so self conscious for the most part that we couldn't think much about how others felt, just how we felt. We didn't know how to be mature. That would take a few years and lots of mistakes. And we didn't understand much about what mattered most in life, that being relationships - with Jesus Christ and with our friends. You can't buy either of those relationships; we have to build and experience them. I hope I have grown some and assume most others have as well. I look forward to hearing from some others or at least reading profiles.
God Bless all of you.
