Josephine's Story
Since 1990 I have been fallowing the native american path or the red road as we call it. Particapating in sweat- lodges & Pow-Wows.I am also a sundancer in sacred ceremony where we pray for all things, all people, all nations.Which is held in South Dakota. We teach the ways that have been forgotten. The use of sacred medicine, our songs and our lodges and ceremonies. This has filled my life and has made a big impact on my life. Learning the haritage of my ancestors, and teaching it to others.4-2009 I have since last entry moved to South Dakota. I am living on the Pineridge indian reservation. My friend is Lakota we have been traveling to different states doing ceremony lodges teachings and prayer for those in need of prayer. We have been to Kansas,Utah and most of Colorado,Washington Arizona. We just finished coming from an elders gathering in Arizona where there were elders from all over the the world. Japan,Tabet,Amazon,, Mexico. And all over the U.S.A.and many more all nations we all gathered at Matter Point at the Grand Canyon for one morning to sing and dance as the sun rose. this was a beautiful experience.01/29/2010 Well as I am still in South Dakota I have been staying in Hot Springs S.D.The weather out here gets way below zero. There was a day we got -42 with the chill factor now thats cold.I am staying with a freind out here . e who still live like this every day of their lives.I will be leaving to go back to the the trailer where I was staying next month they are working on putting insulation and skirting because it had none and it was like living in a freezer. Now you all stay warm and take care Josie Soaring Eagle 9-20-2011 I left the reservation At the begannining of this year and I'm back on the road I was in Washington for 8 months learning the ways of the people there and there ceremonies and how they differed. The coastal natives of that area sing different they all have there own family songs that are sang by there family alone unless they have permission. Alot of them practice Native American church or Shakers which is very different from the Lakota.I enjoyed my stay but am glad to be back where there is sunshine and a moon and stars at night. I was living near Seattle and it rains alot there. I was in Colorado with my daughter for 2 months and now I am in Kansas love the people here ceremonies are very much more of what I am acustom to. Went to a few pow-wows which are always fun I love to hear the drum which is the heart beat of our mother earth. Going to Okalahoma for a few ceremonies then to Illinios to pray. I've been invited to go to one of the 13 Indigenious grandmothers homes in mexico. Looking forward to that It will truly be an experience. Enjoy life for life is just not long enough once you've learned the lessons of life.
