Libby's Story

Since our 1950's graduation, I went to Pan Am and got a BS in chemistry & English, to UTEP and got a MS in Linguistics and Administration, to UT Austin and got a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education, to Univ. of North TX and got a Supt's Cert. I've been a lab & x-ray tech, a teacher, a principal, a professor & a grants & proposals dir. But now I'm doing a VERY important job...I stay w/ my great grand-daughter every chance I get. After three sons and eight grandsons, she's a very special treat. Bows, ribbons, frills...all those things boys just are not into. I built a log house in the Davis Mtns. and divide my time between there and my home in Edinburg. I still do a minimum of consultant work. Travel consists mostly of ...Expand for more
seeing the Vernon Boys and visiting old friends. Love seeing those old friends...we can share memories of a slower quieter lifestyle as well as sharing the joys of our mature days. Eddie's Covered Wagon, Teen Canteen, marching band in blazing heat, Sargenettes, classmates raiding Daddy's watermelon patch, el Cucaracha for the "big dates"...all fun memories that only our classmates had. I always wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were a little off...I became a doctor in education, not medicine. Being a Med Tech was a wonderful career; however, it did not lend itself to time w/ my three sons. Thus, I changed to education and never looked back.
