Lidia's Story
School
Early school years were out in the country at Borrego Elementary School and then El Carmen and Buena Vista Elementary Schools. This was out in Elmendorf, south of San Antonio.
I moved to the big time at Southside Junior High School for 7th grade, made it to be elected a cheerleader, but then our family moved to San Antonio. There is where I was enrolled at Luther Burbank Voc. High School. What a change from the country schools!
I loved Burbank and all the great friends and teachers. I went to Lowell Junior High School and then back to Burbank for 9th-12th grades.
I was in Orange Jackets (loved all the activities and excitement), Home Ec, Future Teachers, and Honor Society. I was fortunate to receive scholarships and attended college at Incarnate Word for 4 years, graduating with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. Twenty years later(you read that right)I graduated from law school from the University of Colorado at Boulder. It was tough going with my two daughters, ages 7 and 10 as a single mother, but we did it! I do mean "we," because my d...Expand for more
aughters helped me make it through those 3 years. My daughters are now grown up, have completed their degree programs in teaching and physical therapy, and both are in Texas. It's now my turn to move, so I am looking for a career in San Antonio or Dallas in law. Wish me luck and call or write if you can share some helpful information for me to make my move possible.
Workplace
I have worked all my life! First, as a little kid on our family farm and ranch, then as a teenager, then after graduation from college. I have taught high school math and worked as a technical writer/editor. I went back for graduate school, studied law, and passed the New Mexico and Texas state bar exams. I practice law in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and love being a lawyer. I look forward to more visits to beautiful, warm, and friendly San Antonio, and hopefully to see my old friends more often.
Currently, I love the idea of chatting with my former classmates and catching up. I travel to San Antonio periodically and would love to meet up with Burbank alumni and just have some fun.
