Linda's Story
Life
I worked in education in California for over 30 years, retiring as Assistant Superintendent in 2002 from a County Office of Education. Retiring was not an easy transition for me so I took consultant jobs with the county schools office and State Department of Education until 2005.
From 1992 on my husband and I enjoyed traveling to several countries in Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska. We took annual ski trips to Colorado, Utah, and Canada. He passed away in 2004. I have 2 children who live close to me in CA. I also have 5 grandchildren, ranging in age from 4 to 16 yrs. I am active in their lives and help their parents sometimes with transportation and babysitting.
As I mentioned above, it took some effort for me to move into the "reti...Expand for more
rement" mode and fill my time. I own a home with a small yard and pool so take care of it. I belong to some organizations and do some volunteer work. I still travel which has included New York, Louisana, Minnesota, and Mexico to sightsee and visit family/friends. I also have several friends in other cities in CA. so plan visits and activities with them every few months. Of course, I still visit Arizona on an annual basis since my sister lives in a retirement community in the Valley. My dad passed away in 2000 and my mom in 2008.
My youngest grandchildren are now 17 & 18 & graduating H.S. About 2 years ago I moved to Arizona to a retirement community In Gilbert. Loving all the amenities. Will return to California in the future.
