Linda's Story
Life
A **different** person than anyone would remember. Lived my life (or at least last 30 years) being myself. Have been blessed with love and success and contentment. Fortunate enough not to want for more. Strong enough to live with and handle judgement, controversy and distain.
Am also a 2 year Lung Cancer Survivor which means I beat the 85% odds that I could not survive. Walked away from all the treatments and the setbacks and the pain with a whole new view on life. Now attempt to practice being a "kind and gentle" person and practice acts of random kindness as the saying goes. I'm happy and blessed. What else could I ask?
Ok...now a survivor (after 1 recurrence) for 7 years. So blessed! Retired now after 16 years as a hotel GM (in Williamsburg, Va.), 17 years as a Corp. Controller here in Virginia Beach, and the last 6 career years spent in fraud and other investigations. Varied and interesting life and no complaints!
Staying here in Virginia just a while longer as my oldest sister is dying with ALS and lives not far from me. (Mov...Expand for more
ed here some 40 years ago to be closer to she and her family ) Then I plan to move north to my beloved New England or Cape Cod. Fell in love with it up there while attending Bay State in Boston. Met my {ex} on Cape Cod when Otis Air Force Base was still there. Have always dreamed of retiring up there and (yes) I like snow:)
If any of you have or know of someone suffering with ALS but still living PLEASE get registered on the newly formed ALS Registry! Contact the National ALS Association and ask to get on the registry. This is not to *track* numbers but an attempt to start building data and information used towards finding a cure for this hideous disease. Nothing has been found yet, and of course you know this has gone far, far back. (Lou Gehrig).
My sister is planning the donation of tissue and whatever can be used in the research for a cure. I only wish it could have helped her.
Was fun looking around on this site, seeing and remembering! Praying each and all of us whose paths crossed way back in our lives are blessed in theirs.
