Linda's Story
Life
I am not sure what you all will find interesting but here it goes. I retired in May. I worked 18 years for the Federal government. I started in 1988 working for the FDIC. From there I worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (we worked with farmers and ranchers helping them to put conservation on the ground. From NRCS I worked for the US Attorneys Office in Anchorage, AK. I then worked for NASA at the Ames Research Center, Sunnyvale, CA. This center develops the experiments that are done in space. I then moved to Washington (state of) and worked my last 4 years for the Bureau of Land Management in Portland, Oregon.
I have two children, a son and a daughter. I have two grandchildren, a granddaughter who is 16 and a Junior in high school and a grandson who is 5 and just started Kindergarten. My daughter works for a grocery chain and is a Deli Manager. My son works construction. I am divorced so I am on my own.
When I retired I moved to Springtown, Texas to be near my children. Springtown is about 40 miles west of Fort Worth. At this time I am living with my daughter and helping her out. She is a single Mother. I do volunteer work at my grandson's school. I help his teacher a couple of mornings a week. I am also involved with my granddaughter's dance team. I had to do repair sewing on some of their uniforms. Of course, I attend her high school's football games to watch her team perform. I have to tell you, they really take their high school football serious in Texas.
Speaking of sports, I am a UCLA fan. I had season tickets fo...Expand for more
r football and basketball. My husband graduated from UCLA and that is how I became such a fan. The only thing I miss about the Los Angeles area are the football and basketball games. So far this season, the UCLA games have all been on TV. When I was living in Washington, I went to the football games when UCLA played Washington, Washington State, Oregon or Oregon State. Now that I am in Texas I don't think I will see to many in person.
I love to travel and have been to several foreign countries. My last trip was to Italy and Greece. This is my favorite trip so far. The history was overwhelming. I have been to England, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Korea. I have been on cruises that have gone to the Caribbean and Alaska. I am planning a cruise to Cozumel in January and a cruise through the Panama Canal IN April. As you can see I have been fortunate to have seen many places. I hope someday to visit Australia. I think I will now have to consentrate on seeing the US.
I would very much like to hear from anyone. I am interested on how everyone is doing and where they are at this time. The picture I posted was taken in July on my cruise to the Western Caribbean. I do not have my annual picture as all my annuals were lost when they got wet and I had to throw them away. It broke my heart to have to get rid of them.
I hope this gives you a little in sight into my life and what I am doing now. It sure would be nice if we had a reunion. I know that this is easier said than done.
Everyone take care and I hope life has treated you well.
