Linda's Story

Went to work for the State of Idaho and got married right out of high school. Attended a few classes at BSU and stayed around Boise for 10 years or so, then moved to Pendleton, Oregon (attended Blue Mountain CC), and moved to Walla Walla, Washington. While in Walla Walla, I began my career with the Federal government that lasted for over 28 years. I transferred back to Boise in the early 80's and went to work as a secretary in several departments at the VA Medical Center. I loved working there because I really enjoyed interaction with the veterans, many of whom had been classmates at BHS. he Reports Unit editing technical water reports until the Feds, in their infinite wisdom, decided to do away with my type of job in USGS offices all over the country. It actually wasn't too bad because I got to take an early retirement (at age 58) and got a modest severance pay. By that time I had married an old hippy biker (from California) with a long white beard and really long white hair in a thick braid. His biker days are over but he still would like to "live the dream." His old Harley is down in our basement gathering dust. I have no children of my own, but I do have two step kids, 5 grands, and 3 great-grands who all live in Texas or Minnesota. We can hardly wait until they all can come visit us.
