Linda's Story
Hello fellow Rinconites. After high school, I did things a bit backwards; I married and had children (2) and then went back to school. Workwise, I taught preschool while my children were young, used an accounting degree at a local credit union and then was hired by IBM. I retired from IBM at the end of 2007 and am busy doing fun things that I'd been putting off until retirement.
While at IBM, I spent about eight years as an internal auditor and it turned out to be a very interesting time in my life. I was able to travel to great places not only in the U.S. but also travel world-wide and spend three to four weeks in each place, such as Zurich, London, Dublin, Guadalajara, and Tokyo. My husband was able to travel with me to many of the locations and we were able to visit many other places on weekends like Paris, Germany, Waterford, other Swiss cities and other ci...Expand for more
ties in Japan. What was great was that the expenses were mostly covered by my expense account.
I logged more than 1.5 million airline miles and do not miss the airport hassles.
We decided to enjoy the "country" life and bought a house out in Vail on an acre of land. We needed more land for my husband's car hobby. We spent the first half of 2007 remodeling and then moving. We enjoy spending a great deal of time in the summer at our cabin enjoying the cooler temperatures and beautiful forest. Since retirement, we designed and built a patio and I had a great time selecting and planting just the right native plants and flowers for the raised planting area. it was great fun and I'm really enjoying it.
There have been some challenges through the years but I've had a truly blessed life and am very thankful. What a ride, and hopefully, there is a lot more to come!
