Linda's Story
I always thought I went to a great High School, with some of the most interesting people. What I learned there, formed many of the creative building blocks and thinking processes that helped me develop throughout my adult life. I have never forgotten my art teacher Mr. Glickman, or my french teacher Mons. Janeck. We had an unusual class, some of whom I've remained friends with for years and years. Recently, I went back to school after a changed situation in my private life. I am attending St. Johns University as a Legal Studies major, after being an art major and Real Estate broker in Huntington New York for 20 years. I have (2) college age sons, one a Psch. Major at C.W. Post University. Life has had it's share of challenges since I last was in H.S. Tragically the deaths of (2) of my siblings; my sister Peggy Dalton when she was 17 , and a Clarke Senior, and in 2001 my brother Joe died of a sudden heart attack, so my family was changed forever by those losses.I was divorced in 2007 after 24 years of marriage, the divorce in Suffolk county NY took 4 years; which was absurd, painful and obscenely expensive. roperty and it proved the destruction of over 100's of thousand s of dollars in legal fees. It's why I went into the study of The Law, to be an advocate for change. The process destroys peoples lives, families, their assets almost irrevocably their future ability to rebuild. There also has been much joy in my life since those events, it has been a journey and I've persevered in taking it with hope.
I look forward to being part of a class reunion in the upcoming year, I still see some of my H.S. buddies Judy Hamburg, Nancy Flaherty and Wendy Lesko, recently everyone got together in NYC in the meat packing district, I was sorry to miss it, I was on a class that night.
We all have "lived in interesting times" as the Chinese blessing says.I hope to hear from some of my old friends..
I always wanted to be a artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea, but no way to earn a living . As it turns out, they were wrong about that , artists are still "artists" and earn their living in a way that still enables their art.
We are planning a Fall reunion for the Clarke class of 67'. All who would like to join contact me.
