Linda's Story
I've had such a diverse professional life and changed career paths three times. My first job after graduating college was for a non-profit environmental organization in Basking Ridge, NJ where I did education programs. I then jumped to corporate life working at American Cyanamid in their corporate environmental department, focusing on regulatory affairs in the area of water quality and discharges. Fascinating work until they reorganized and eliminated our department! At that point, I had just married and moved to Morris Township, NJ and felt comfortable taking a leap of faith and trying something completely different. I took a sales position selling optical character readers (OCR's) to law firms and quite a few corporate law depts.
Along the way, I had two wonderful sons and stopped working all together. I got back into environmental work as the President of my neighborhood assn. and we successfully fought a huge development next to our neighborhood...all this while I was pregnant!
We eventually moved to Southeastern Pennsylvania where we have lived since 1988. Again, I brought that environmentalism to my kids' e...Expand for more
lementary school where I worked with an amazing group of women and we created unbelievable Earth Day programs for 550 kids for five years. I was able to do some corporate fundraising and would get $10,000 each year to fund great, hands-on learning.
As the kids grew up I re-entered the working world as an educator at a National Historic Landmark in Philadelphia... Fort Mifflin (for those of you who may have landed at the Phila. airport, that star-shaped structure you may have noticed upon landing is the Fort!). After four years teaching history and environmental science to over 10,000 kids a year, I moved on to another job as an Educator at a historic site closer to home...Pennypacker Mills. I've been there since 2002 and enjoyed building their educational programs, program development, publicity and volunteer management.
I love cooking, love gardening (have a heritage garden at work and 5 garden beds at home along with a pond!), being with my family, church as a Deacon, and great friends. I've been married only once, to a great guy since 1981 and he still makes me laugh and is my best friend too! How lucky am I?!
