Linda's Story
An unfinished story
July 28, 2008
Hi, everyone,
I guess everyone remembers me as the class nerd.
After H.S., I went onto LMU, where I majored in Biology, finishing in 1974. From there, I attended UCLA, where I obtained a M.S. in Microbiology and Immunology.
Then, I moved to Phila., to be near a boyfriend and attended grad school, including U. of Pa. I was finally accepted to med school at Hahnemann U. (which has since become Drexel U.), graduating in 1982. I forgot to mention that we were married in 1977 and that the A.F. (compliments of his medical training pay-back) sent us to Shreveport/Bossier City, LA. There, I completed a Rotating internship at LSU.
Subsequently, we moved to San Antonio, where I attended UT's Radiology residency program. Next, we moved back to Palos Verdes (my old stomping ground), CA in 1991.
During that time, I completed 2 fellowships at Long Beach Med. Ctr. and UCSD. We, also, adopted our son and took him 2 days after he was born. Was?Is he ever a handful! I had no idea since I came from a family of girls. I stayed home for 12 years to raise him.
Then, in 2001, we moved back to TX. This time it was W. TX. Don't ever move here! It's the pits!
We left both families behind. In summer, 2003, my Dad died. It ...Expand for more
was his time. He was 88; however, I guess you're never prepared for it and I miss him terribly!
My marriage fell apart in 2006 and our son opted to live with his father, of course, with the usual visitation rights installed. I have just started the recovery process; however, healing the wounds will definitely take longer.
On to brighter matters, my son and I have a good relationship. He plays a mean trumpet and football (who doesn't in TX?) and hates english, science, history and math. Great, huh?!
I am looking to change my career, hoping to get into criminology. Eventually, my dream is to run a one-stop center for our aging parents where they can obtain referrals for medical, nursing, legal, social work, transportation, etc., needs. I would plan to inspect these services and facilities personally to validate their integrity. I hope someday God will allow me to fulfill this aspiration. He does some amazing things in our lives! Like Andrea, I have a personal relationship with God.
Thanks, Jacky and Mary, for visiting my home page. I hope you two are doing ok.
I think this is such a better way to communicate than at a reunion where things can get to be a little more superficial.
I hope more people visit my page and I hope to see more of you and read your stories.
Take care, Linda Dzida
