Linda's Story
What have I been up to, that is a long story. Right now I am in San Diego helping my Mom who is 94 yrs
old. We presently live with my daughter Lisa in the Scripps Ranch area. We made that move in June due to
the fact that I needed help with Mom and could no longer do it all by myself. Bless my daughter who has a
large house. I am still feisty and somewhat opinionated and passionate about the things I do love.
I was blessed with two great kids, who are now adults and in their own professions. My daughter Lisa
is a Nurse Practitioner at UCSD Liver Center, she is also an accomplished speaker and has spoken
all over the US and Internationally. And if that isn't enough she was a professional dancer and won
the US championship for Latin dancing. She no longer competes but still dances for her pleasure and
stress relief.
My Son, Rick, has retired from the National Guard as a Sargent Major and was the Human
Resources manager for the State of Oregon National Guard. He did a stint In Iraq meeting all
the soldiers he could and making sure they were OK and had what they needed.
He was inducted in to the Hall of Honor for the 2-162 National Guard division on October 27, 2013.
He presently works for SOS, Survivor Out Reach Services, which works directly with family's of
fallen Soldiers making sure the family is being taken care of and has all of the benefits that are due them.

Prior to joining the National Guard he was a full time ARMY soldier and was stationed in Germany and
that is where my granddaughter was born.
I have a Granddaughter who followed in her Dad's footsteps, she did a year in Afghanistan and is
a terrific young woman. She was medically retired this last June. However she is working for a
Government Contractor who also assists Military Families. She has her Bachelors degree and is working
on her Masters while she works full time. She just was married this last March to a great guy who is a
full time Soldier.
Me, I have had a few careers. I worked for the Herald Examiner Newspaper in Los Angeles for a while,
worked in what they called their cold type dept, which was working with advertisers putting their ads together
for the newspaper. I owned, with my x-husband, a bar, 2 restaurants. That was an education in itself.
I worked for PSA Airlines in San Diego for numerous years then moved to Eugene Oregon and went to
work for Lane County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher. What an eye opener and education that was. I worked
for them for a total of 26 yrs. Retired now and trying to figure out what is next and looking forward to whatever
it is. But for now my primary job is my Mom and keeping her safe and happy and with family.
