Linda's Story
Until the last year or so, I don't think I had contacted anyone from my past. It's not that I have forgotten you all...just that my life keeps moving forward.
I left Macedonia, went on to get a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Geology (I always did love rocks), spent the better part of 1990-2005 teaching and traveling for field work (in the US, Canadian Arctic, Russia, Mauritania, China, Argentina).
Then, in 2005, finally a tenured professor (University of Tennessee), my husband (Colin Sumrall, also a geologist) and I finally decided to start a family. Do...Expand for more
uglas Alexander Sumrall was born in February 2005, and is definitely the love of our lives!
So while Douglas is young, I am trying to curtail field work a bit and have shifted directions in my research....I now am spending less time in the field (only trips to China and Africa this year, and only for 6 weeks total), more time in the lab (doing funky experimental geochemistry), and more time working remotely (REALLY remotely, doing research on Mars as part of the 2009 Mars Science Laboratory mission).
Drop me an e-mail if you find this!
