Linda's Story

How does one condense 40 years of life in a little story. Like most people's lives. I have had my ups and downs. Thankfully, I'm the glass half full type of person, so I have managed to be mostly happy. I have four amazing children. Two daughters, two sons. Two grandchildren (remember I started having kids at 3!) My oldest son married last summer and now a baby is on the way...all joy. I never learned how to date. I married my high school sweetheart, then he left me when my fourth child was 3 months old. I had two very brief and disastrous marriages after that, but mostly raised my kids as a single parent. I love to travel. I still love being creative. If I'm not drawing or painting,I'm cooking or baking. I still love the beach. Love to jump the waves and body surf. I don't care if me bathing suit is full of sand, I have just danced with the ocean, what is better than that. I still dream of seeing parts of the world that I have yet to reach. I still run, rather than walk up and down stairs for no reason I can figure out. I am shamefully attached to my bike. I will not let anyone ride it. I'd rather share my make-up, not really. It is funny how life leads the way. I was the one who was going to get a house in the country and paint, become a great artist, and maybe get a cat. Instead I ended up becoming the earth mother. em sugar. Truthfully, I knocked myself out raising them. I made sure that they all graduated from college. That they didn't make any mistakes( good-luck on that one) looking back, however, they actually made very few big mistakes, and now have wonderful careers and relationships. I like the way my life is now. Nobody needs me, at least not on a day-to-day basis. I still live my life with the perspective that something wonderful is just around the corner. Perhaps around the block, but it is still worth seeking. More times than not, it usually is there to be found. I'm looking forward to my next job, since I was just let go, I was a Lead coordinator for a small business. It got slow so I was let go. Most of my career has been in Real Estate. That's how I was able to send four kids through college. Last year I went back to school at Grace Institute a business school and to Streewise Partners,Inc. a corporate mentor ship program to prepare me for the corporate world. I know it is scary out there, but I only need one job. I have a lot of ideas. I'm exploring now. Because I have had a very sheltered work experience. Real Estate was a lot of fun. You meet new people every day, get to look at houses all day. Come and go as you please and make money. It was a great 11 years. Now I will have to decide what I want to be when I grow-up. Keep me in prayer. I hope someone who remembers me will read this. Bye
