Linda's Story

Life Married 37-1/2 yrs, 3 kids 6 grandkids. Been leading the nomadic life with husband's job, but actually went back to NY for 7-1/2 years and was in Rockland Co. for a couple of years. Back in SD now since 2005. All the kids and grandkids live here too. Resurrected my flute a few years back and now I play in a New Horizons (Fifty Plus) Band locally, plus church orchestra: Flute, piccolo, and Bass Flute. Started piano lessons when I was 36 and am learning to play oboe now. College U of OK-- cultural shock-- I knew they were speaking English, but I couldn't understand a dang thang what with the twang and weird slang. were close to Texas and it must be Texas-sized corn. I swore they gave me cooked crabgrass (some kind of "greens") and on and on. I learned quickly to have lots of dates and begin each with a meal. Hence, winning the dorm bet for 7 dates on one day! Became Susie Sorority and rode a trike in Phi Psi 500, did the greased pig thing and tug-o-war over a mud pit for Sigma Nu Border Roundup. Met hubby at sorority function. All the usual college stuff- and got a good education too Workplace From W T Grant's in high school,to tutoring for university housing department, dunkin' donuts in college to many enjoyable jobs as we moved around the country with hubby's job: medical transcription, teaching, retail management, pharmacy technician to name a few
