Linda's Story
Life
Linda (Malone) Flaherty Class of '66.
Take one part peroxide, two parts great laugh, three parts tremendous sense of humor, and a temper you never want to mess with, and you get a combination named Linda Malone Flaherty - Milford High grad of '66. I think that pretty much describes this lady. Unless you want to add thick hair, world's greatest grandma and someone that still looks pretty dern good in low lights. Thank Goodness for candles!
Seriously folks, I reside in Mesa, Arizona along with my ever-lovable husband Richard (of 30+ years). After graduation, I contemplated becoming a Playboy Bunny -- even did a short stint at the now defunct Playboy Club in Cincy, that is, until my father caught wind. Yes, always daddy's little girl, he helped me discover that playing pool with local celebrities wasn't my 'destiny,' so I married short thereafter. I also attended the Univ. of Cincy near Eastgate. After a couple of years teaching precocious fifth graders, I relocated to Arizona and opened a private one-on-one fitness/tanning studio, before I went into 'private banking' (12 years).' I'll skip the first-marriage-go-round story, but will say that two of my proudest accomplishments came from that union -- two terrific sons - who have gifted me with six healthy grandchildren. Don't you just love grandkids?! I do! Also rainbows, moonbows, and front porches - I could go on . . .
Travel is a passion of mine - with a weak spot for Hawaii and London. We've traveled the world - visiting England, Spain, France Italy, Scotland, and Ireland. A...Expand for more
thens, Greece is next on the agenda.
Since graduation, I've lived in Mesa, AZ, Asheville, NC, and Pelham, Alabama, then finally moved back to AZ. where we raised our children. We;ve been in Arizona for more than 20 years now. My hobbies include writing, genealogy, and bleaching things until they're sanitary, and also walking around the house yelling "that doesn't go there!" Yes, I'm a neat freak. Just ask hubby Rick - who by the way, barbecues a great steak, however, is under the assumption that the entire female race has a highly developed form of intuition, (we have eyes in the back of our heads) and an inner tracking device for finding lost keys, glasses, etc. I love him profusely! Afterall, who else would put up with a lady who loves to dance. Yes, rock' n' roll music still sends me reeling. (As evidenced at the 35th reunion.)
There is (of course) another side to the shiny coin. God gives . . . and God takes away. Yin and yang. The balance of things. I've lost many friends and loved ones since our 'glory days.' My dearly departed father, mother, two brothers, and several classmates. Please know that I've loved knowing each and every one of you. You have all blessed my life and taught me so much. Thank you.
Some parting thoughts:
I believe (profoundly and deeply) that anyone can write.
I believe in the potential of kids, puppies and seeds.
I believe that every state should have a Frisch's Big Boy and Skyline Chili.
By ya'll. Email me sometime, or c'mon over and see me. I'll be in sunny Arizona.
