Life
My Pets
I have a very old cocker spaniel that grew up with my daughter and 3 cats.
Update 2007: Well the cocker passed away right before 9/11 and now I have a redheaded Shiba Inu who runs the household. Or thinks she does... Still feeding stray cats and the odd lost soul who ends up at my door from time to time.
Update 2010
The shiba inu also passed away and now I have 2 cats. Just can't have a home without something fuzzy to suggle up to.
Update 2013
Still have the 2 cats. Holy terrors, both of them. Hard to have pets in Florida because of the fleas!!!! You have no idea!!!!! Still a sucker for the stray lost soul as well.
Update 2019
Still have the same 2 cats who rule my life. One now has diabetes so I’m giving daily insulin and watching his diet. Finally did get to Paris in 2015 and it was Everything I had dreamed of. It’s on the list to return to someday. Top of the bucket list is a trip to Ireland in the next year or so. Spent a couple of years from 2014 to 2017 involved
pretty heavily involved in ballroom dancing to the point where I was competing on a local level. Loved every minute of it until I didn’t. It’s hugely expensive and I was working tons of overtime to afford it. I quit when it became clear that the studio I was dancing at cared more for my wallet than for me. Just like a bad romance! Speaking of romance, I ran in to Billy Fox (I guess he’s Bill now) in February of this year on the East coast of Florida. He’s well and happy. Lots of Grandkids, a good career and a happy marriage. So glad for him!!! One of my dear friends from high school, Bill’s best friend Steve Krumholtz died this year. It was very sad. I guess I can expect more of that as the years go by. Where did the time go???
My Kids
My daughter will graduate from high school this year and plans to go on to college and major in broadcast journalism. She is very active in school clubs and her hobbies include dance, singing and modeling.
Update 2007: Well my daughter has graduated from college with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and is getting married this summer. They are planning to re-locate to Chicago for their careers so some day soon you may be seeing Rachel Martin bring you your local or national news! And then... it's on to the Today Show...Move over Meredith...
Update 2010
My daughter is off to law school this fall. The marriage didn't work out. They're still married but living seperately. Still no prospects of b...Expand for more
eing a grandma...I may have to adopt my own grandkids!!!
Update 2013
The daughter graduated from law school this Spring and is a practicing attorney now. She got re-married this November so now I have a new son-in-law. Still no grand kids, but I do have occasional custody of their Maine coon cat, Guinness.
Update 2019 Finally getting to be a grandmother this October ( It’s about damn time!!!!). Daughter lives in Washington DC and husband works for Pentagon but the plan is to to relocate back to Florida to be close to family after the baby is born. cant wait for October!!!!
Update 2019
Well, I’m the grandmother of a spectacularly beautiful little girl and she has my heart! Who knew you could have 2 great loves in one lifetime...my daughter and my granddaughter!! I’m the happiest I’ve ever been!!!
Workplace
Loving my job!! I work as a Transplant Coordinator for LifeLink of Florida. I get to travel all over Florida and work with various doctors and hospitals to help procure organs for transplantation and help stabilize donors, and find suitable recipients. Sometimes I even get to fly to other states to retrieve organs for our reciepients and "bring "em on home" Very fulfilling work, and I always know at the end of a day that I've made a difference.
Update 2010
Working as a Case Manager for a HUGE insurance company. Going back to school to get my ARNP (finally!)
Update 2013
Never did make it back to school. Ending up working lots of overtime to pay for my daughter's wedding. Also diagnosed with Lupus 3 years ago so the energy level just isn't what it used to be. My symptoms are mostly controlled with medications. Left the insurance company and am now back to work in a small community hospital as charge nurse. Looking forward to retirement in 3 years. Thought I would be one of the ones who would work into my 70's but this disease is kicking my butt and I can't wait to quit work and take it easy.
Update 2019
Still working as a nurse full time but can’t wait to retire in a little over a year. The lupus makes working a challenge on a daily basis. Constant debilitating pain. Had multiple surgeries in the last few years. Guess that’s what comes with living this long. Definitely will retire in 2020. I will have that grand baby to spoil!
Beautiful granddaughter just turned 1 year old!! Retired this year and living the less stressful life style!! Living being a grandma!! Every minute I get to spend with her is a joy!!!
