Linda's Story

I am from Hayward (Born in Oakland - so I'm a real "California Girl!", California. She is currently divorced.. Her schools include Laurel Grove Elementary School Castro Valley, Baywod Grammar School, Hayward, La Vista Junior High in Hayward, and then Tennyson High School, Hayward. Right out of high school started work for Alameda County Probation Department Juvenile Hall, San Leandro, and various other County Departments for 15 years. Married in 1969, had one son who lives in Elk Grove, he is a college graduate of Fresno State, he is the best thing that any marriage ever could have happened to me, he has a lovely wife and my 2 beautiful grandchildren a girl 13 with gorgeous red hair, and a boy who will be 10 years old two days after his daddy's birthday (my son is also a Tennyson High Graduate '87), Linda first divorced when son was 5 mo. old, raised him alone and left working for Alameda County to work at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley from 1980-1990, having lived in Hayward most of pre and oost-graduation then moved to Antioch CA (when remarried, that marriage ending in 2011) While in Antioch she worked for Mt. Diablo Medical Center now part of Muir Medical in Walnut Creek and Concord and was disability terminated for excessive migraines. In between Alta Bates and Mt. Diablo she did licensed Day Care where she provided care for four (4) infants ranging from 8 weeks to 11 months (the most incredible experience of day care was the 1989 earthquake when two babies we...Expand for more
re downstairs and two were upstairs and I had to keep the 2 downstairs calm so I cold go upstairs and get the other 2 so we could all hide in the doorway until it was over - reminded me of living in the home I grew up in because we lived right behind the railroad tracks and it always felt like an earthquake!!). That's why at the 25 yr. reunion I weighed 103#. Disability retirement (?) taught herself to quilt an has donated and gifted many wall hangings and quilts to family, friends and charities. My worse regret is leaving Antioch and losing my doctors of 22 years (Internist and Cardiologist). and my kitty cat, which I found at 3 weeks and was told they wouldn't live through the night. This year they will be 13 years old, but we have lost one already. The best thing I learned skill wise in school wee my "secretarial" abilities: At almost 66 I still use my shorthand and it makes people (mostly field facility people) very nervous and they ask me if I'm using some kind of code, well I guess these days you could say it is. any of you who took those classes with me will know how hard it was to learn, and a lot of my "close friends" gave up shorthand, and some even typing. Linda's interests include Quilting and Crafting while Watching Old Films, Being Me, Reacquainting With Old Friends, Listening to Malt Shop Oldies and any music box era music of the 50's-60', likes to decorate and do crafting when feeling well enough...
