More about Linda:"Have you ever asked yourself, “If I were to die today, where would I go?” Have you ever wondered? Well, I did. About 13 years ago. Sure I heard the term “born again”, but I always put that name with what I call religious fanatics. I thought I was a Christian, but then many of us think this…little did I know. Being a Christian is not going to church, not doing good deeds. No, it’s a lot more. Jesus told us that we had to be “born again.” Even a Pharisee, who was supposed to have known this, was confused. He was thinking in the physical realm. I’d like to share my journey into being Born Again, and believe me, I am not a fanatic. I was going to a church that was not feeding me. I did not know this. But gradually, God was calling me, and I felt the pull. I was searching for whatever it was that was missing in my life. I tried filling that void with material things, buying, buying, buying. Sure it felt good for a while, but then I needed another fix and off I would go again, shopping. Everyone has this void. We all fill it with different things. Some material things like me, other with booze, drugs, power, money, sex, etc. But it’s like putting a square peg in the round hole. Those things do not fit in this void. Only Jesus can fill this void. It was made especially for Him when He created us. I started searching for another Church. I went to several, but each time I would go back to this one Church that made my soul cry out in joy, because of the Words it was teaching. Little by little that void was filing up. Soon I became a member of this Church…Circle Drive Baptist Church. Every time I would pray, tears would roll down my cheek. It’s not something I could control. Soon I...Expand for more
walked the aisle down to the front and asked Jesus to come into my heart. I confessed I was a sinner (everyone is a sinner, we are born that way). Some people believe that man in inherently good, but then I have to ask you… do you have to teach your children to be bad or do you have to teach them to be good? The bad is already in us. We are selfish creatures. So by me accepting the fact that I am a sinner, asking for forgiveness and then repenting (meaning turning away from those sins and walking towards Jesus), and asking Jesus to come into my life and be my savior, I was Born Again (Spiritually). God says the minute we do that, and really mean it, we are saved and the Holy Spirit enters our body. Romans 8:9 tells us that the Spirit of Christ dwells within every believer. A person cannot understand God or His Word without the presence of the Holy Spirit. I tried reading the Bible before I was saved. I even started on a mission of reading the whole Bible in a year. But the only thing I could get out of it was nice little stories. The Bible tells us, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” – 1 Corinthians 2: 14 But when I was Born Again, and I started reading and studying the Bible, it was like I took my sunglasses off and could see the light. My eyes were open and understanding started to flow into my soul. Jesus commanded us to be Baptized. So once I accept Christ as my savior and asked him to come into my life, I asked to be Baptized. Baptism is a example of what Jesus did for us. We are above the water, sinful. Then we die to self, and are buried like Christ (going under the water), and raised again to a new life (coming up out of the water). Jesus died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again. What a great privilege it was to share this with Jesus. So now if anyone ever asks me “if you were to die today, where would you go”, I can confidently say, “I am going to Heaven to be with Jesus and God the Father.” I know this for a fact. Jesus told me in His Word, and I believe what Jesus says. I could have never gotten to heaven on my own. Being a good person or doing good deeds does not save you… but by being saved, you are so grateful that you do good works. Jesus is the only one who can save. Thank you Lord… I am Born Again!".
