A new journey I am a volunteer for CASA which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the court system. National Casa dot org is an organization that needs volunteers in every state. There are children taken from their parents for a multitude of reasons and most of the time, it is not the fault of the child. These children are usually shuffled from one place to the next and many times get lost in the paperwork. Child protective services or whatever your county calls it has employees that are overworked. Children get forgotten very easily. As a volunteer, you will have one case and until they are either reunified with their families or placed in an adoptive home, you will be their one constant. To become a volunteer, it only takes about 30 hours of training plus a minimum of 10 hours in court observation.
