Linda's Story
Life
Can I sum up 30 years in a few paragraphs? I'll give it a try!
Following RBC, I attended Hood College in Frederick, MD. (BS, 1981). Worked as a Clinical Dietitian in Virginia and Maryland Hospitals (1981-1986) while earning my Masters Degree part time from Virginia Tech (MS, 1987). Selected as a Presidential Management Intern in 1986, worked on Capitol Hill and the Exec Office of the President in Washington, DC, (1986-1988) then continued my Federal career with the Health Care Financing Administration as a program analyst (1986-1998)
Married Brian, a physician (Yale 1972), in 1987. Our son Jason was born in 1990. Left the Federal gov't in 1998 to found my own Web Design/ IT consulting business after realizing that I just love IT and the internet.
We moved from Columbia, Maryland to Lebanon, PA in August 2003 when Brian joined a new medical practice. He currently practices as a nephrologist & hospitalist.
Our son Jason is now 16, and a rising senior at Cedar Crest HS. He is a gifted athlete and math student and we are now in college search mode! He is currently working at Hersheypark in ride operations and loves it. PS -- He and I are members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts. We adore the big steel coasters and travel each summer to Cedar Point to ride...Expand for more
Dragster and Millennium Force.
When not working, I love to swim and work out, read, write, surf the Web, garden and get together with friends. Oh, and walk my sweet rescue doggies, Daphne and Mickey. I am still fluent in German and listen to lots of streaming German radio stations and read German books. Last year Jason and I were at the World Cup in Germany and had a blast. My pen-pal Susanne in Munich, Germany, who I was paired up with while a Junior at RBC, and I are still friends and get together here or in Germany every 2 years or so. It was great to introduce her and her family to Maryland Crabs and the Baltimore Orioles in 1996!
My life has had its ups and downs, both large and small, but in retrospect, I feel lucky to have found a wonderful husband, given birth to a healthy, sweet and loving son, have a career I love, and good health so far. The one thing I have a tough time believing is that I am 48 years old and getting ready to attend my 30th HS reunion --eeek!
I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone in August. I'll be at cocktails & dinner Friday evening (rest in peace, Ned. You were a great guy) and then at the reunion party Saturday night.
Take care, Fellow Class of '77ers. I'll talk to you in person (or online) soon!!
Fondly,
Linda
