Linda Dixon:  

I went to West Carteret in between going to Libya, Africa, and Andrews AFB as my Dad was in the Air Force. Even though I was only there a short while, I really loved it in Morehead City. My parents: William Sammons was from Beaufort and Mary Ruth McKnight Sammons was from Morehead City. We moved in 1971 when my Dad got a job in Pittsboro, NC. I hated having to leave, but ya gotta go where the parents go. I graduated from Northwood High School in Pittsboro in 1973. Moved to Durham, NC and lived with Joyce Palmer, my best friend, for a little while. Got married 9/13/1975 to Orville Dixon, Jr. and have been married every since. Went to Durham Tech from 1975-1975 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Worked in the Intermediate Care Nursery and UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Sanford Medical Group in Sanford, and did some private duty nursing. Returned to school, Alamance Tech Community College and graduated in 1984 and became a Registered Nurse. I worked at UNC Hospitals in OB and GYN Oncology.
