Linda's Story
I noticed this had not been updated for many years... I retired in 2018 an RN at the VA hospital and had moved from Indianapolis in the 70's to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. to Gainesville,Fl. and retired to New Port Richey, Fl.. I wish you all much happiness these remaining years we have left to enjoy life.
School
High school was not the best memory for me. Only with the passing of time have the memories softened. I had gone to elementary school at Flackville and # 90, then when I was 11 I moved to Lampasas, Texas for 3 years, I moved back to Indy and attended Northwest. It was cool to see kids I had known from grade-school. But, the 3 years in Texas made me "different" I had a southern accent and dressed differently than kids in the conservative midwest. I did not really "fit in" I remember being sent home by Mrs. Z....Expand for more
for wearing culottes (remember those?) or skirts that did not touch my knee... if I had to do it all over again...if it was the same way..No..if it had been more pleasant and the kids kinder, yes.
The teacher that inspired me the most was Mr. Knopfmeier Science/Biology... I did like home Ec and Mrs. Ilg..Mr Brown English teacher was cool as was Mrs. Blue, Algebra teacher. I went on to work as a RN, probably due to Mr. K's inspiration. I remember I was pretty much a straight A student except that I flunked PE because I had it 1st period and did not want to get "messed up" or wear those stupid looking blue one piece gym suits and definitely did not want to get naked with girls in the shower..And typing wasn't my forte..didn't want to be a secretary....Hopefully will make it to the next reunion...sounds like fun!
