Linda McAlister:  

I moved to TAmpa when I was in the first grade coming from Sikeston, Mo. I went to Mendenhall Elem, then Lois Ave. Elem, then Twin Lakes Elem and finally Egypt Lake Elem. Then I went to Oak Grove Jr High and then on to Hillsborough Hi before moving back to Sikeston, Mo in Nov. of 1964. I lived at 2519 W. Diana St. Some of my best friends at Oak Grove were Carol DeVera, Diane Flynn, Ruth Ann and Pam Crawford, Kathy Burt, Lavinia McFarland, Bobby Leavens, Carolyn Van Buskirk, Dick Stokes, Vernon Chewning, Larry Hardin, Barry Mays, Willie Serrano, Kay Keller, David Keene, Linda Lentz, Sandra Taylor, Susan Tyler,Leigh Denham,Sharon Whitmore,Cathy Duncan,Craig McConnell, Rod Stewart, Randy Rigby, Amy Bettner,Sandra Commander. I could go on and on. What a surprise it was one day at the end of Major League Baseball season in 1976 to learn that our classmate a year ahead of us, Steve Garvey, was playing in the World Series. I graduated from Sikeston High School and worked for a year in Sikeston and Memphis, TN and then married in 1969 to a high school classmate. We moved to Wichita Falls, TX (Air Force) and then on to Little Rock, AR to finish out Air Force stint. We had two sons while in the Air Force. After 6 yrs of marriage we divorced in 1975.
