Linda's Story
I have been married to my husband Frank for 50 years, and we met on a blind date. We lived in Germany when we were first married while he served in the Air Force. I worked in Germany as a hair dresser in a German Salon, learned some german and made some lasting friendships. When we returned to the U.S. Frank attended San Jose State University, and I worked as a hair dresser, we also managed apartments. We then moved to Canada for Frank's job and lived in Montreal and Toronto for a year. We returned home in the early 1970 and bought our home in 1973. We bought a fixer upper and we are almost finished.
In 1978 we welcomed our beautiful little daughter Heather Lane Thaxter to our family. In June of 1980 we welcomed our son Frank E. Thaxter. We enjoyed being parents and were active in our children's lives. I was a girl scout leader for 12 years and still am in touch with my girls. Frank was a Boy Scout leader in the same troop 237 Orinda he grew up in. Our children are grown now and both married and our daughter lives Baltimore MD. Frank and I have been blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and one grandson. We are blessed with the best childr...Expand for more
en and we enjoy the time we spend with them. I have worked as a marketing director for 5 retirement homes in CA. I loved my job and enjoyed traveling around the bay area and to LA. I was also a motivational speaker on Humor and how it beats Stress, I had a gift basket business for a while and enjoyed creating beautiful theme baskets for my clients. One of my favorite past times is gardening. I also love to travel and have been very fortunate to be able to visit England, Germany, Prague, and Ireland in the past with my Iowa girl friends. My life has not been perfect I am a 25 year cancer survivor and some of my talks are to cancer patients to give them hope. I am sad to say I lost my brother Bill, on August 23, 2009, he was in the Alhambra Class of 1960. he was my first friend and I will miss him always, he was the Best Brother. I am still good friends with Alicia Susini Carone, Carol Delchini Wilcockson,Shirley Wheeler Knoff, and Linda Bartolotti O'Rourke
I hope to connect with some past friends from Alhambra High School. I realize how important each day is and am thankful to be alive. My motto is [Life is to short don't be hard on yourself].
