Linda's Story
My Story: I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I attended St. Athanasius elementary school (class of '70), then Cardinal Dougherty High School for most of my freshman year. Near the end of my freshman year we moved to West Point, NY (the U.S. Army Military Academy). We stayed at West Point thru my sophomore year. That summer (1972), when my father retired from the Army, we moved to Austell, GA and I attended Pebblebrook High School for my junior and senior years, graduating Class of '74. My family moved to Atlanta near the end of my senior year, but I continued attending Pebblebrook so I wouldn't have to change schools again and so I could graduate with my friends.
After graduation I attended DeKalb Community College (now called Perimeter College) and received an A.A. in Criminal Justice in 1977. I then joined the Army and was stationed at McNair Kaserne (army base) near Frankfurt, Germany. I got engaged while in the Army and after being discharged we moved to my fiance's hometown of Reno, NV. We got married in Reno and lived there and then later in Napa, CA...Expand for more
. When I became pregnant we moved back to Atlanta where my daughter, Erin, was born in 1980. We divorced in 1983.
I lived in Atlanta until 1999 when I was transferred to Clarksville, IN (just across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY). In 2002 I changed jobs and moved to Louisville. I worked at the University of Louisville Hospital in downtown Louisville as a Behavioral Health Tech on the adult Psychiatric Unit until 2014. As the psych unit for the city hospital we would get the people that the police pick up, people with Mental Inquest Warrants taken out on them, suicide attempts and anyone in general who is dealing with a mental illness. It was a sometimes stressful but never boring job.
I now work for a company that helps people who may not be able to get approved for financing for things like furniture and appliances get the merchandise they want while also establishing or building their credit.
With my daughter now grown and living in another state I would like to try to find some old friends from St. Athanasius, Cardinal Dougherty HS and Pebblebrook HS.
