Linda's Story

Life Okay, let's see if I can do a bio in 4000 characters or less spanning 30-some-odd years...I think the limit is meant to keep us humble. However, just realizing I'm talking about that many years--is humbling enough!;) Let's see...I have been married 3 times (hope springs eternal) had two children by birth and two by marriage--all loved equally from the heart--2 boys, 2 girls ages 18 to 32 as of this year. No grandkids, yet--I may have to adopt. I lived in Pennsylvania for a time and various other towns in Oklahoma, as well as Germany for 2 1/2 years. After living in Germany about 8 months, my sister was coming for a visit and we had to pick her up at the train station. Hopelessly lost, I was driving madly through Bremen with my friend in the front seat navigating with a map and our kids in the backseat who were both yelling for the bathroom. Finally, I told my friend Patsy, to roll the window down at a stop light so I could ask directions. The hippie-looking guy sitting in his van next to us looked startled as I yelled out one of the few German phrases I knew, "Wo ist die Zugstation?" (Where is the train station?) He shot back a confused/frantic look (probably mirroring mine) then finally yelled back as the light changed, "I'm sorry, I don't speak German!" Patsy and I looked at each other with dumbfounded expressions, then burst out laughing. I told her it was just as well--I probably wouldn't have understood him if he'd given me directions in German, anyway. We finally found the train station, though. At the age of 23--living in Germany--I accepted Jesus as my Savior and have enjoyed His awesome presence ever since! My life before Jesus, reminds me of that day we were looking for the train station--utter confusion and frustration--but, o...Expand for more
nce we found the train station (and my sister) we were back on the right track (forgive me-no pun intended). My life is now a reflection of His grace, mercy and everlasting patience on one of His most stubborn kids ever born--not perfect, not easy, but when He is in the driver's seat, the view is always beautiful, the bumps in the road are barely noticed and the destination is definitely where I want to end up! I was a stay-at-home mom for many years and would still do it all over again--to me, it is one of God's most fullfilling and honorable callings. As far as work, I have worked for the FAA and the USDA. I've had a few small businesses and gone back to college to become a landscape designer and attended classes to learn to train dogs to herd sheep (like the Border Collies in the movie Babe). At one point in my life, there were 2 adults, 5 children, 4 horses, 11 dogs, 2 sheep and an assortment of chickens all living on two acres--it was the best kind of craziness! Now, I'm single and working for an investments firm; enjoying my adult children, friends and family--and the blessed quiet when I want it! There is also a special man in my life--so I am content, all things considered! Sometimes, I do miss the crazy days--however, if I yearn for action, I go visit one of my nutty friends or just pop in a DVD... I love to craft, sew, invent, draw, write, garden (think: 10-irons-in-the-fire just like most people these days;) I also enjoy reading--especially the bios here. It is so interesting to know what my long-ago-classmates have been up to. I love to hear about your lives and what you have been doing since High School! May God bless you all with the desires of your hearts, as we embark on the second (and hopefully) the best half of our century!
