Linda's Story
After high school, I attended St. Cloud State University where I earned a BS degree in Biology and Earth and Space Sciences. Then, with my teaching certificate in hand, I landed a job in Fridley teaching High School Biology. I loved it! Besides teaching science classes, advising the ski club, and coaching an Odyssey of the Mind Team and the FHS Dance Line; I married Van (we were college friends and lab partners!), earned my Master's degree and had a son and a daughter.
Van and I are retired now (sort of) and have been married for 40 years. Our son, Adam, is married, living nearby and has a 4 year old son, Cole. Our daughter, Katie is married, in the process of moving from CA to Washington D.C., and has a 1 year old daughter, Cora. I've committed to taking care of Cole 2 days a week (more if they need me) for the last 4 years and this last year I have spent 6 months out in California taking care of Cora....Expand for more
So, I expect to keep very busy with the little kids until they get into school. (My air miles have really been adding up!)
I have been doing a lot of traveling (other than to CA and back) in the last few years. After my daughter graduated from college she decided we both needed intensive Spanish language classes (???) . . . in Spain. So she signed us up (Surprise for Me!) and off we went for 7 weeks. Now, I've traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China, Thailand, Ecuador, Peru, Scotland, England, France, Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Austria, and Germany. (Whew!)
August through October this year, I'll be taking care of my granddaughter while my daughter is working out of the country. The three of us will be living in Paris for 3 months so I will miss the 50 year reunion. But, hey, it's PARIS!
(Hopefully I'll make it to the next reunion.)
