I retired 2 years ago after teaching elementary school for 42 years in Ft. Lauderdale. I also taught GED, helping students obtain their high school equivalency, as a second job two or three nights a week for 22 years. I miss teaching, but I am enjoying my retirement very much. I still "scratch my teaching itch" by volunteering in my grandchildren's first and third grade classes a couple of times a week (more if needed). I pick them up from school every day and take them to their various after school activities. I very recently had the experience of fostering 4 seven week old collie puppies and finding homes for them. That was very hard for me because I wanted to keep them all! I have also fostered and found homes for many kittens, bottle feeding abandoned babies if they were too young to eat on their own. I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
