Linda's Story
Life
I basically started my career in HS. I was a student at the vocational center and earned my CNA, continued on and achieved my LPN later that year, passing my nursing boards at 19. I obtained my RN in '85 and currently work in the Emergency Room at Pana Community Hospital, where I have worked for 18 yrs. I am planning on continuing my education, but haven't decided on medicine or changing gears totally, have thought about becoming a personal chef, with an emphasis on medical diet management. I am certified in adult and Pediatric Life Support and Trauma intervention.I have also thought about becoming a Nurse Practitioner..specializing in Cardiac patients or Diabetes education. I have been married for 17 yrs to a wonderful man, and unfortunate...Expand for more
ly children were not in the cards for us. But, we are very happy nonetheless and lead very fulfilling lives.In the summer of 2004, I am having gastric bypass surgery, and would like to hear from anyone who has had this procedure.Thanks...Linda...Update here...flash forward to 2008..I now live in Iowa,just outside Cedar Rapids....working still in a small rural ER...love my job! Still married...21 yrs this June,,whoo hoo! I am currently focusing on going to PA school to become a physician's assistant....as close to a doctor as I will get...have my BSN,MSN...now ready to move up! Had my bypass & lost a staggering 240# & kept it off...looking forward to the reunion....would love to hear from those who remember me, or who'd like to become acquainted!
